by Asma Gaba ![]() 1) Electra Heart by Marina and the Diamonds: Marina and the Diamonds's second album, Electra Heart, is probably her most iconic sound. Her signature raspy and deep voice is addictive and definitely sets the album as unique. Electra Heart's songs are equally (and paradoxically) upbeat and melancholic to listen to. The lyrics to the songs are hard hitting, despite the catchy beats- my favorites from the album are “Lies”, “Homewrecker”, and “Teen Idle”. 2) Save Rock and Roll by Fall Out Boy: Fall Out Boy's comeback album is no doubt their strongest album yet. The songs are all peppy rock with the best bass beats and lyrics that they've ever come up with, in my opinion. If someone wants to get into Fall Out Boy, I would totally recommend this album first. The album features artists Big Sean, Foxes, Elton John, and Courtney Love. Fun fact: Fall Out Boy made a music video for all 11 songs and combined them into a movie called The Young Blood Chronicles. Songs I would recommend are: “The Phoenix”, “Miss Missing You”, and “Rat a Tat”. 3) Kicker by Zella Day: Zella Day is a model and singer. Her album Kicker is almost unknown in the music world, sadly. I rarely say this, but Zella Day is the most underrated artist out there. Her music is eccentric and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's obvious her lyrics and album were made with love. Kicker is the perfect album to listen to for a day at the beach or to add onto a road trip playlist. I would recommend “Hypnotic”, “East of Eden” and “Shadow Preachers” for first time listeners.
