When thinking of summer vacations, road trips are rarely

the first to come to mind. Long hours in the car and large

amounts of money spent on gas may not seem like the ideal

vacation, but with careful planning and a leap of faith, a road trip

could be the best trip of your life.

One of most famous and recommended road trips in America is

called Route 66, which is named after Interstate 66. It stretches

from Chicago all the way to Santa Monica, and is over 2,000

miles long. Usually, the trek takes about 2-3 weeks, with plenty

of historical stops along the way. Along the Interstate, you can

visit the Milk Bottle Grocery in Oklahoma, the Rabbit Ranch in

Illinois, and the Fudge Factory in Missouri, to name a few. These

quirky and unique attractions showcase the diverse culture and

history of the U.S.

No trip is successful without good food. You can find tons of

mouthwatering restaurants scattered throughout Interstate 66,

with places to suit all cravings. Diners, steakhouses, soda

fountains, and drive thrus galore, you’ll never be hungry on the

road.

Instead of visiting the beach or traveling to a foreign country,

perhaps consider grabbing some friends or family this summer

and heading out on the road. Whether you take Route 66 or not,

I guarantee that you’ll make amazing memories on the road and

learn something new.
