WINGS  AROUND  THE  JOE

A Warm, muggy night near Windsor

All is quiet in across the river in Detroit

Except the tumultuous sound of Wings Fans in the Joe

Versus the Maple Leafs, Game 69 of 82

Both out of playoffs, reigniting the rivalry

Puck drops, fans yell “Charge!”

A few minutes in, Toronto fans rarr

But the goal’s no good, Red Wings stood

Applauding the choice of the blind as can be refs.

The drunk Toronto fan in front of us had a musk

As strong as a quarry smell

He was booing every time Datsyuk Touched the puck

Down they go, Glenny’s goal!

Up now 1 to 0

No goal for the red wings, the fans upset

Booing Mr. Ref, with all kinds of hate

No score yet as Toronto gets a breakaway

Grabner’s tripped, time for penalty shot

Down now 1 to 0

Third period starts as fans boo the Leafs

About whose team is better

A fight breaks out in the stands between

A young Detroit college kid and a middle aged Leaf fan

Both taken into custody, one gets deported

And the other kicked out of an amazing game

Nothings new on the ice as wing fans boo

Game ends 1 to 0 Leafs are yelling woo hoo

Ready to beat the refs into a pulp

A young Toronto family in town seeing the game,

A boy near 10 a girl near 7 happy their team won

As old wing’s fans complain they aren’t like Gordie Howe

A tough loss, especially now as the wings need a spot

To continue their playoff dreams of

Number 25

The End
