by Jessica Yu ![]() If you live on the east coast or in a predominantly Asian community, you may have already heard of Kung Fu Tea: a modern cafe that serves a variety of dessert drinks, including bubble tea, slushies, coffees, and punches. Each drink can be customized to one's preference, such as sugar level and ice level. Nata jelly, bubbles, and red beans can also be added to drinks if desired. Its delicious taste and affordable price have made the franchise a hit, open in seventeen states and counting. As its popularity increases, customers increase as well. In
several locations in the Washington D.C / Virginia area, the wait to purchase tea is often 30-40 minutes during peak times. Even though more locations are opening every month, each store remains just as crowded. Customers frequently express frustration regarding the long lines, but they still wait in these lines in order to try out the much talked about bubble tea. At the Centreville location in Virginia, the line goes out the door and into the parking lot almost every night. For a store that advertises themselves as convenient, is it really convenient, or worth it, to wait for 30 minutes in order to buy a drink? In my opinion, the answer is a resounding yes! Kung Fu Tea is definitely a place that you should try at least once. The addicting taste of their sugary drinks have lured customers back time after time, and could possibly make you a regular customer! Perhaps one day you may find yourself waiting in a seemingly never ending line for a cup of bubble tea.
